The Permanent Secretary of the Delta State Ministry of Environment, Dr. (Mrs.) Minnie Oseji has expressed deep gratitude to God for the comfort, guidance, and love she has experienced throughout her 58 years of life.
Dr. Oseji also took the opportunity to thank Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for providing a conducive environment that has enabled her to effectively serve in the ministry.
The Permanent Secretary made these remarks when staff of the Ministry of Environment celebrated her 58th birthday on Wednesday, March 18, 2025, at the ministry.
Overwhelmed by the surprise birthday celebration, Dr. Oseji expressed her astonishment at the unexpected display of affection from the ministry’s staff.
She shared how she had received multiple calls that morning and, thinking it was a work-related meeting, rushed to the office. Upon arriving, she was met with a heartwarming celebration.
In her own words, “I’m overwhelmed, astounded, and flabbergasted. I received a call this morning from the most senior director, Mr Enone Godwin Toju, Director Forestry. the Director of Forestry, saying I had a meeting.
“I was receiving multiple calls, so I thought I needed to rush down to quickly hold the meeting. But when I entered the office, it was a pleasant surprise.”
Dr. Oseji expressed her joy at the love and affection shown by the staff, acknowledging their consistent support and teamwork throughout the years.
“I feel so appreciated. My staff are one of a kind. They have shown me the love of a mother and the love to a mother. Everybody knows that I can be strict.
“Almost everyone jubilating here today must have seen the strict side of me, but when I correct, I do it in love because I want them to be the best version of themselves. Despite my strictness, they have come here to celebrate with me, and I truly appreciate that.”
As she marked 58 years of life on March 18, 2025, Dr. Oseji also reflected on her impending retirement in two years, when she will join the ranks of senior citizens in Nigeria.
“I must say, I feel fulfilled and grateful to God. I have a wonderful family and amazing people around me.
“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has been kind and gracious, and since his tenure began, he has fostered a wonderful working environment for us. Our Commissioner, Tommy Ejiro Jamani, has also been very supportive. I am deeply grateful to them all.”
The staff, who had ambushed the Permanent Secretary in her office with jubilant birthday songs, were equally thrilled. Many presented gifts, while others danced and celebrated with Dr. Oseji.
It was a joyous occasion, filled with music, dancing, and heartfelt smiles as both Dr. Oseji and her staff enjoyed the beautiful moment together.
