Read why Oshimili South has no political pressure group

Why Oshimili South Lacks Strong Political Pressure Group – Okonji

The reason for the absence of a strong political pressure group in Oshimili South Local Government Area, Delta State, has been attributed to self-serving interest of some politicians.

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oshimili South Local Government Area, Ogbueshi Okonji, made the submission when he received an Award from Oshimili South Progressive Front (OSPF) led by former Chairman of the local government, Mr. Izuka Okolo.

The honour tagged “Exemplary Leadership Award”, was bestowed on him for his open-minded leadership style and accessibility”.

Receiving the Award, Ogbueshi Okonji pointed out that most of the groups that came up in the past were organised for a purpose and once the idea is realized or lost, the group will disintegrate, adding that his leadership of the party will encourage groups of likeminds for the purpose of promoting the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration and the PDP in the area and beyond.

He charged the Oshimili South Progressive Front (OSPF) to support the PDP always and stood the chance of reaping the benefits inherent in working with his administration, reminding them of the need to be loyal to the party at all times, despite challenges that might be faced at intervals, as there were bound to occur and surmounted too.

While assuring that the party will recognize the OSPF and work with it always to achieve political gains, the chairman urged them to remain steadfast in their support rather than joining groups that work to destroy PDP.

He said the Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has done a lot in Oshimili South Local Government Area to deserve 100 per cent support from the people and implored members of OSPF to mobilise support for the governor and the party at all times.

The chairman noted that members of the group were made up of politicians of integrity, stressing that he was confident they will support the party to achieve results always.

Earlier, the Chairman of the group, Hon Izuka Okolo, while hinting that the first tenure of Ogbuehsi Okonji was successful as he carried everybody along, said they were happy with his achievements and how he had led the PDP, and therefore, decided to honour him, adding that they desire to work with him to achieve a stronger PDP in the area.

Also speaking, Mr. Tony Enebeli said they appreciate the chairman because he was always accessible and want to maintain cordial relationship with him and the party.

Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of the award to Ogbueshi Okonji.
