In strict adherence to food security and Agricultural policies of the federal government to make agriculture as one of the main drivers of the economy, 75 constituents of Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency obtained certificates for five days training in modern techniques in fish farming.

Hon. Nicholas Mutu, member representing Bomadi/ Patani federal constituency, Delta State, who organised the training of the 75 persons as a constituency project to add value to his constituents, urged participants to make good use of the skills acquired to better their lives.

Mutu, who was represented by the vice chairman of Bomadi local government area, Chief Mrs. Flora Biripu, said the five-day empowerment programme was deliberately conceived to create wealth for the constituents so that they could live above poverty and be employers of labour.

“With modern techniques in fish farming, you can be useful to the society and be employers of labour,” Mutu told the constituents.

Hon. Mutu charged his constituents not to mismanage the great opportunity offered by the federal government. He asked them to embrace peace and be patient because by the grace of God more opportunity would come for those that were not part of the training.

On his part, Dr. Ezekiel Adesuyi, of DUTCHPORT GLOBAL SERVICE LIMITED in conjunction with Centre for Management Development who facilitated the training for farmers in fish farming in Bomadi/ Patani federal constituency said, the 75 youths were trained in new techniques to hatch fish, prepare their own feeds for the fishes, how to plan their own budget and how to have their ponds.

One of the trainees, Miss Ebi Pius, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to God and Mutu for giving her this rare privilege to be trained for self employment. She promised to make good use of the starter- pack and urged other youths from the area to remain peaceful and wait for their turn.

You will recall that last year Hon.. Nicholas Mutu carried out and empowerment programme also in this manner.
