The legal team of Senator Ned Munir Nwoko has announced plans to appeal a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja concerning the suit challenging the APC senatorial candidacy of former Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.
In a statement dated July 20, 2026, the legal team said it was disappointed by the judgment in Suit No. FHC/AB/CS/1062/2026 and had instructed its counsel to immediately commence the appeal process.
According to the team, the court’s decision was not based on the substantive merits of the case, expressing confidence that the appellate court would overturn the ruling.
The lawyers also questioned the circumstances surrounding the proceedings, alleging that the same court had earlier granted them leave to amend their processes before subsequently setting aside the order on its own motion.
They described the development as an attempt to prevent the substantive suit from being heard on its merits and maintained that the case should be allowed to proceed.
The legal team said it remained determined to pursue the appeal “to ensure justice is done and seen to be done.”
It also appealed to stakeholders to remain calm and law-abiding while the appellate process unfolds.
Senator Nwoko, according to the statement, reaffirmed his commitment to equity, transparency, party unity and the progress of Delta State.
