Should the woman alone bear the burden of household chores? This article has a near-perfect-answer

Domestic duties have always been a major challenge in most homes. There is always so much to do within a very limited time frame. Because of this, most women who otherwise do not have help often breakdown. This implies that every woman needs help. While the children are still very tender, the woman may be left on her own to mind the chores. This, according to African tradition, is the duty of the woman.

Some schools of thought are of the opinion that the upkeep of the home should be the responsibility of every member of the family. To this school of thought, it is not uncalled for if the man helps to put the house in order; especially when the woman is choked up. Such men find it unburden -some to help with laundry and sanitation of the house. Feeding the children and giving them a bath is also not a big deal to them. Some men also will not mind shopping for the family or taking care of all catering activities in the house. To them, doing these things give them a sense of responsibility. This does not imply that the woman will completely thrust the maintenance of the home into the care of the man as this will be sheer foolishness on the part of the woman. This is because the resultant effect of such action may culminate in the man withdrawing all his services. When this happens the woman will have to bear the burden solo.

Another school of thought believes that the duty of the man is to provide for the needs of the family. Hence any household duties are solely the business of the woman. Ironically the table has turned in most homes as both man and wife contribute to the financial growth of the family. Therefore, while the children are still very tender and there is no extra hand to help the woman, will it be out of order if the man steps in to lighten the burden of the woman?

 The truth is that no degree of feminism movement will erase the God ordained fact that women have been wired to build homes. As such, women should ensure that they use the persuasive virtue embedded in them to get things done for them by their husbands.

Research has shown that stress is a leading cause of many diseases. Hence, it behooves on every woman to map out measures that will ameliorate the work load in the house. Fortunately, technology breakthroughs have made life more tolerant for humans. Hence we have various machines that can do most of the tedious work in the house. This is implied as not everybody has the capacity to purchase and maintain such amenities.

With or without the presence of social amenities and machines that aid work, the financial as well physical maintenance of the home should be the responsibility of every member of the family
