Some issues emanating from the ongoing tribunal judgment

On the issue of the qualification of candidates, the court reiterated that membership in a political party is an issue of the internal politics of the party.

The Tribunal also touched on the issue of the non-joinder of Atiku Abubakar, who came second and wondered how Obi & Labour Party’s petition could be effectively determined without joining the candidate who placed second in the polls.

The Tribunal also touched on the issue of Obi’s membership in the Labour Party and resolved the issue in his favour. The court held that he had the locus to institute the petition.
