Something Big Is Rising In Ughelli… And It Will Change The Entire Landscape (Check It Out)

A new chapter in the history of Ughelli began on Monday as the Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Wilson Ojakovo, Oharisi III, poured glowing tributes on Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, over the construction of the Otovwodo Flyover—an ambitious project many believe will redefine the city.

Speaking at his palace shortly after the groundbreaking ceremony, the monarch described the flyover as a transformative intervention that would permanently reposition Ughelli as a modern and thriving metropolis.

According to him, the project goes far beyond concrete and steel. It represents progress, improved living standards, and a future of smoother movement and greater economic opportunity for his people.

Through the Otota (Spokesman) of the kingdom, Chief Peter Akpofure, the Ovie praised Governor Oborevwori’s leadership, particularly for tackling the long-standing traffic gridlock around the Otovwodo axis with strategic road projects already completed in the area.

He also applauded the governor for extending development to other parts of the kingdom and for appointing sons and daughters of Ughelli into key positions in government, saying these actions have brought renewed hope and inclusion to the people.

“This flyover will forever change the face of Ughelli,” the monarch declared. “It will be remembered and appreciated by generations yet unborn.”

The Ovie went further to offer prayers for divine guidance, adequate resources, and human support for the governor, while pledging the loyalty and cooperation of the entire Ughelli Kingdom to the Oborevwori administration.

In his response, Governor Oborevwori thanked the traditional ruler and the people of Ughelli for their warm reception and unwavering support, describing the traditional institution as a vital partner in grassroots development.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering impactful infrastructure across Delta State, explaining that the Otovwodo Flyover was designed to ease traffic, improve safety, and stimulate economic activities in Ughelli, in line with his MORE Agenda.

The governor later paid a courtesy visit to the Ughelli residence of industrialist and political leader, Olorogun Morrison Olori, founder of the Ukodo Nation Political Support Group.

During the visit, Olori and members of the group commended the governor for his development strides across the state and pledged their continued support as the 2027 general elections approach.
