Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, wife of Delta state governor, on Friday, said that having secured victory at the Supreme Court, God has given Delta rest from all political crises. She added that God has answered all the intercessions made by Deltans for the governor to emerge victorious.
Speaking at the 17th edition of Mothers Arise Prayer Conference at Delta government house chapel, the first lady returned all the glory to God for the victory he granted to the state governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
The governor’s wife who said the victory was due to the prayers of Deltans, noted that continuous prayers would take Delta to the next level as Governor Sheriff Oborevwori strengthens his hands in the administration of the state.
She acknowledged the role of her predecessors in the persons of wives of former governors, Roli Nere Uduaghan and Edith Okowa. She commended their support and commitment to the yearly prayer conference which commenced during the administration of former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan.
She noted: “I count it a great privilege to be in this event. I’m learning from my mother, Edith Okowa. God will always show us mercy. I thank God for giving our grandmother, Roli Nere Uduaghan the vision for this prayer conference.
“She handed over to Edith Okowa who handed over to me. I will keep the fire burning for the next eight years. I appreciate you my grandmother and my mother. I want to appeal to all my sisters to support my husband for the success of the MORE Agenda.”
She advised women not to be swayed by the happenings and rumours they hear around rather they should be guided by the Bible.
Roli Uduaghan, wife of former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, who ascended the podium with Dame Edith Okowa, who also addressed Mrs. Oborevwori as “our mother”, appreciated the governor’s wife for continuing with the prayer conference she initiated.
She prayed for Delta thus: “Those who say Delta shall not move forward shall carry their shame. The land of Delta will not swallow her children.” She read the book of Deuteronomy Chapter 28 where she pronounced blessings upon the people of Delta state.
Dame Edith Okowa, in her remark, thanked God for the resounding victory at the Supreme Court. She said: “As I was coming to the conference this morning, I told God thank you I was not put to shame. Concerning Delta state, God has given us quietness and peace. There is no kidnapping, there is no violence in Delta state. If everyone is born again in Delta we will not have issues, there will not be Yahoo Boys anywhere.”
Guest preacher, Pastor (Mrs.) Vera Oroboh, told the women to put God first in their pursuits, warning that in times of riches and promotions, they should not forget God. Taking her readings from Psalm 106:4 and Jeremiah 17:5, she called on Christian women to be close to God as everyone needed the touch of God in their lives.
Pastor (Mrs.) Oroboh said irrespective of challenges, “when God decides to open your chapter, everything changes immediately.” She revealed that there are stories of people whom God remembered and their stories were turned around for good.
She admonished Christian women to put their trust in God, noting that man could fail, man could disappoint, man could deceive, man could change their mind and man could betray but not God. Hence, she believes that Christians should put their ultimate trust in God.
She listed catalogues of biblical characters who trusted in God and made remarkable progress. Specifically, she identified Joseph and Mordecai who dared the consequences of their actions to please God, and they succeeded.
“God remembered Joseph in prison. He created a dream for King Pharaoh that only Joseph could interpret. When God remembers you, he will create issues that only you could solve.
“For Mordecai, God used Haman his enemy to dress him with the royal apparel. God had to cover the identity of Mordecai when Haman was asked to identify who should be honoured.”
She also called for moderation and honesty in all Christian engagements. She identified areas of moderation to include clothing, car buying, food, building houses and all that life could offer.
