In a significant step towards fostering peace and unity, HRM Obi Dr. Ifechukwude Aninshi Okonjo II, the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom, and HRM Obi Noah Chukwuka Akaeze, the Obi of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom, have jointly resolved to settle their long-standing boundary issues within a very short period. Demonstrating a commitment to peaceful resolution, both traditional rulers have constituted high-powered committees to tackle the matter decisively.

The inaugural meeting of the committees was held on Wednesday in Asaba, with senior chiefs and stakeholders from both communities in attendance. The primary mandate of the committees is to amicably resolve the boundary dispute, particularly in areas around Isah Ogwashi-Uku along the Ogwashi-Ubulu road, as well as the farmlands and territories around Aniagbala and the entire axis in contention.

The move by both royal fathers to engage in dialogue rather than conflict has been widely commended, as it underscores their commitment to maintaining peace and harmony between the two neighboring communities.

By setting up these dedicated teams, the traditional rulers are ensuring that all grievances and claims are addressed through constructive discussions rather than through violence or external intervention.

Speaking after the meeting, senior chiefs from both communities expressed optimism that the committees would work diligently to arrive at a lasting solution that respects the heritage and interests of all parties involved.

The committees have been tasked with thoroughly reviewing historical land ownership records, engaging community elders, and recommending practical resolutions that will ensure lasting peace.

The Palace Secretary of Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom, Prince Ifeakanachukwu Emordi, commended the proactive approach and peaceful disposition adopted by the Onishe of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom, High Chief James Asika Onwordi, who led the team from Ubulu-Uku Kingdom to the meeting.

Observers and community members have praised this initiative as a model for conflict resolution in the region. It reflects a progressive approach to governance by traditional institutions, prioritizing dialogue, understanding, and mutual respect over confrontational tactics.

As the committees commence their work in earnest, all eyes will be on the efforts of HRM Obi Dr. Ifechukwude Aninshi Okonjo II and HRM Obi Noah Chukwuka Akaeze, who have demonstrated exemplary leadership in fostering peaceful co-existence.

Their resolve to expedite the resolution of the boundary issues will not only strengthen ties between the two communities but also set a precedent for amicable dispute resolution across Delta State and beyond.

The next meeting of the committees is expected to take place soon, as they work towards presenting a comprehensive resolution framework that will bring finality to the boundary concerns.
