A pan Urhobo socio-political organisation which is the core progressive youth wing of the entire Urhobo nation worldwide, Urhobo Youth Council, UYC, has commended the Mayor of Urhoboland, Eshanakpe Israel a.k.a Akpodoro, on his heroic visit to Gbaramatu Kingdom recently.
The commendation was contained in a statement issued in Abuja over the weekend by the Chairman of the UYC, Abuja chapter, Chief Peter Aghogho.
According to the statement, Mayor Akpodoro has done for Urhoboland what no leader has dreamt of doing by leading the youths of Urhoboland to the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Tantita Security Services Nig LTD who is also a former warlord, High Chief Government Ekpemukpolo a.k.a Tomopolo in Gbaramatu Kingdom where matters of mutual interests between the Ijaw and Urhobo nations topped the agenda. The outing who took place on June 27, 2024.
Acording to the youth leader of repute who doubles as coordinator, Oginibo community, Tantita Unit, the dialogue between the two nations marked a watershed in the relationship of the ethnuc groups particularly the marching order given to the Mayor to ensure peace and harmony amongs the youths of both nations.
Chief Aghgho said: “It is uncommon for our Mayor Akpodoro’s class to lead such a large number of youths to a great man such as the Chairman of TSSNL.” He noted that the Mayor has succeeded where many failed.
Mayor Akpodoro, Chief Aghogho noted, is a selfless and one of the most committed leaders of the 21st century of Urhobo nation adding that if other leaders could emulate the Gbaregolor Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State-born Mayor who is also an ex-militant leader of repute, Urhobo nation in particular and Niger Delta region in general will rapidly develop particularly the human capital.
Mayor Akpodoro, the statement said has written his name in gold in his giant strides describing him as a man with the vigour, courage, capacity and love to exit Urhobo from the woods of backwardness and deliberate underdevelopment by the political elites setting it on the path of massive progress.
With Akpodoro, the youths of our land are getting to know that good leadership is not impossible, standing for the interest of Urhobo nation takes only a selfless leader who is willing to make sacrifices for the betterment of the public good.
“Our Mayor in his heroic visit to the Diadem of Gbaramatu Kingdom and the lavish reception given to the leadership of the youth body of the Urhobo nation, speaks volumes of the integrity and credibility of the man who led them there.
“The Mayor has proven that he has all it takes to take Urhobo nation to greater heights. I commend him,” the statement read in part adding that, High Chief Tompolo is a great leader revered by all and sundry including his ‘bitter enemies.’
High Chief Tomopolo, the statement noted has taken for a long time the charismatic leadership of the Niger Delta region and has performed greatly as a philanthropist, as a humanitarian, nation builder, peace builder, human developer and a pan-Nigerian nationalists.
With the would-be-synergy between Mayor Akpodoro and High Chief Tomopolo, the stage is set for a new dawn in the region, Chief Aghogho stated as he called on Urhobo youths to support, demonstrate loyalty and solidarity to the Mayor while he steers the ship of Urhobo nation.
The Chief Aghogho-led Abuja UYC leadership vowed to rally the support of all youths, elders, and leaders including the traditional institution in Urhoboland and beyond to lend their weight behind the neo-mayoral stool that God has blessed Urhobo nation with while he promised their unalloyed support and solidarity for High Chief Tompolo.
