A development economist, Matt Morris, has said that Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala is a good material for the World Trade Organisation (WTO). He said Okonjo is the first woman and the first African to hold the position.
He said he was privileged to have worked with Iweala on the Nigeria’s debt deal in 2005. He added that Okonjo is an absolute force of nature and just what the global system needs.
People all over the world have poured encomium on Okonjo over her emergence as DG as the WTO. So far, everybody has seen her as a ready material to uplift the organization for the good of the world.
She is expected to resume March 1, 2021 to start her new role in the Geneva based organization. The Nigerian government and her home state, Delta, have all wished her well in her pursuit of a better deal for the world.
Members of the Nigerian House of Representatives have called her to focus on Africa and the poor developing economies of the world.
