After suspension, Anambra community dethrones monarch, crowns replacement

Following the suspension of the traditional ruler of Mkpunando Aguleri, Chief Alex Edoziuno, the community has enthroned a new traditional ruler, Igwe Johnson Onyeaka- Mbanefo.

The event which took place on Sunday, September 5th, 2020 at the Ukwuana -Isiokwe square, Mkpunando Aguleri, Anambra East council area, threw the villagers into joyous mood as all stood still to welcome him according to the tradition and culture of the community.

The coronation was witnessed by all the age groups in the community and they were al filled ith excitement..

The community which has four quarters Ugwuoba, Umuagu na Obeke, Ivite Enu and Igboezunu unanimously agreed that the stool abhors vacancy hence the enthronement of Igwe Johnson Onyeaka-Mbanefo.

The ceremony started with prayers from the Okpala Mkpunando, Ichie Melionwu Udalor who expressed gladness that a leader whom God sent to them has come to stay, prayed their ancestors to give him more wisdom throughout his reign.

While crowning the new Traditional Rulers, the Traditional Prime Minister of the community, Ichie Augustine Akwobi, said having gone against the state government by the immediate past, he is adjudged to have also gone against Ndi Ichie, the gods of their land and the entire Mkpunando, hence they choose Onyaka Mbanefo who has distinguished himself in various aspects in the community.

The Chairman, ruling council Mkpunando, Ichie Obalim Ejimofor maintained that they are at home with the new traditional ruler expressing the hope that many development projects will be witnessed in the community.

While thanking Ndi Mkpunando Aguleri for finding him worthy of the elevation, the new traditional ruler, Igwe Johnson Onyeka-Mbanefo said that whatever the community has at heart in calling him to the throne will be his watch word. He prayed for progress and long life of his subjects.

The traditional ruler in company of Ndi Ichie and others danced round the villages that make up Mkpunando Aguleri, while masquerading and other displays added glamour to the event.
