Aniocha/Oshimili: Group insists Reps member yet to perform 18 months after, begins recall process

Concerned Citizens of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, a dominant socio-political group in Delta state, has insisted on the poor performance of Hon. Ngozi Lawrence Okolie, the member representing the Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
In a statement by the Chairman, Dr. Tony Curtis, the Secretary; Austin Madu, the group maintained that Hon. Ngozi Okolie’s 18 months representation of the people of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the National Assembly has been a catalogue of monumental failure and colossal minus.

They condemned him for using his media team as a weapon of mischievousness, accusing them of “traversing villages within the constituency, attempting to spread falsehoods and instigate mischief among the citizens.”

While lamenting the issues surrounding his poor performance as their representative in the House of Representatives, the group insisted on recalling him and maintained that they have formally initiated the recall process.

The statement reads: “It has become imperative to address the ongoing issues surrounding the poor performance of Hon. Ngozi Okolie, the representative of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.

“It has come to light that Hon. Okolie’s media team is traversing villages within the constituency, attempting to spread falsehoods and instigate mischief among the citizens. They are reportedly trying to procure testimonies to suggest that materials and items, however insignificant, were distributed to the people. These deceptive tactics are unacceptable.

“Hon. Okolie seems unaware that many constituents have kept detailed records of activities—or lack thereof—at the National Assembly. Contrary to his claims, there is no evidence of meaningful contributions or development initiatives within the constituency. Instead, he appears to prioritise personal enrichment for himself and his associates at the expense of the electorate who placed their trust in him.

“As a first-time representative under a new political party, Hon. Okolie had the opportunity to improve upon the existing foundation. Unfortunately, he has treated the office as a personal oil well, exploiting resources as though connected to a pipeline for unlimited personal gain. This behaviour undermines the principles of public service and accountability.

“Even the Labour Party’s presidential candidate has criticised structures of illegality and exploitation, underscoring the deviation of Hon. Okolie’s actions from the party’s values. This betrayal of trust will not be tolerated by the people of Aniocha/Oshimili.

“In light of these issues, we have commenced the process of recalling Hon. Okolie from his position. This action aims to deter future candidates from attempting to manipulate and exploit the electorate. The concerned citizens of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency will no longer tolerate arrogance, intimidation, or selfishness from their leaders.

“If Hon. Okolie claims to have provided social amenities or undertaken projects within the constituency, he must publicly name the communities, towns, villages, and beneficiaries involved. Furthermore, he should detail the projects executed, including dates and locations. Failure to do so will only reinforce the perception of his failure to deliver on his mandate.

The citizens of Aniocha/Oshimili demand full accountability and transparency, including a truthful statement of affairs, not fabricated reports or criminal attempts to cover up mismanagement.

Operation Dismantle Hon. Ngozi Okolie and His Rascality is in motion. The people are resolute in standing up for their rights, and the voice of the constituency will be heard. Let it be known that any funds misappropriated on behalf of the constituency must be refunded, as the era of unaccountable governance is over.”

However, in a media briefing with journalists last week, Hon. Ngozi Okolie debunked the allegations against him, insisting that he had performed more than many members of the House of Representatives who had spent four years in the green chambers.

According to him, those accusing him of failure are envious of his achievements, hence the recourse to recalling him from the national assembly. He listed certain projects which he had executed in the federal constituency, but many of his constituency are yet to be at home with him.
