Governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike and Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo state are reportedly missing among the party governors currently in Osun state to hold a mega rally in preparation for the July 16 governorship election.
In a photo trending on social media, Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the PDP, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state, Godwin Obaseki of Edo state, Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto and Douye Diri of Bayelsa are in Osun state.
The only PDP governor in Southwest, Makinde of Oyo state was reportedly not available to receive the party’s presidential candidate and his vice, Ifeanyi Okowa.
The People’s Democratic Party PDP has been engrossed in crisis following the outcome of the party’s presidential primaries and the method which the vice presidential candidate was selected.
Governor Wike, who has been in the centre of the grievance has been mute since the emergence of presidential and vice presidential candidates.
Atiku has sent different emissaries to him but available reports indicate that Wike is yet to bulge.
Wike was a member of the national campaign committee but he was in Turkey with Governor Makinde of Oyo state and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state when the campaign committee was inaugurated in Abuja.
He is having on his side Governors of Benue, Oyo and Abia states who are Samuel Ortom, Seyi Makinde and Okezie Ikpeazu respectively.
