An unidentified young man, popularly called “First 9”, has been killed while exercising his franchise at the ongoing Isoko South Constituency 1 bye-election in Irri axis of the state.

It was gathered that “First 9”, was shot dead by assailants who stormed Irri Ward 10, polling unit 5, heavily armed to steal the ballot papers used for the election.

It was reliably gathered that the hoodlums were armed to the teeth with AK-47 sophisticated rifles as they shot into the air to scare voters away.

Trouble started on Saturday September 11, 2021, at about 3:15pm when the hooligans attacked the unit to carry out their nefarious agenda.

It was alleged that the criminals numbering about 34 invaded the election ground in a commando style and unleashed mayhem on the voters.

An eyewitness account by one Mr. Jefferson Ogorure, has it that, the election turned bloody, saying, “I have never seen this type of deadly situation in politics in a mere House of Assembly bye-election, calling on security agents to nip in the bud the ugly situation”.

In another development, an All Progressives Congress (APC) agent suffered from gunshots in Oleh, the administrative headquarters of Isoko South local government area and other places.
