President Muhammadu Buhari has urged the Nigeria police force to speedily investigate and bring to justice the killers of Uwaila Omozuwa, the 100 level microbiology student of the University of Benin, Edo state.
She was said to have been raped and killed within the premises of the church without anyone knowing about it until the church security came to the church at about 7pm and discovered the body in its pool of blood.
The 22-year-old girl was said to have gone to the church to read her book when her assailants pounced on her, raped her and killed her. She died in the hospital where she was rushed to after the dastardly act.
Her father whom she converted from his traditional practice has reportedly returned to his practice, saying the person who brought him to Christianity has been killed.
President Buhari, in a tweet on Tuesday night, said: “I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Uwaila Omozuwa. I expect the Nigeria Police Force to speedily and diligently investigate this case and ensure that all the culprits responsible for this barbaric act are brought to justice.”
