The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), has congratulated former Delta State Governor, James Onanefe Ibori, on his 68th birthday, describing him as a visionary leader whose contributions to public service and education continue to inspire generations.
In a goodwill message issued on Tuesday on behalf of the university’s Governing Council, Management, Senate, staff and students, the Vice-Chancellor, Ezekiel O. Agbalagba, said the occasion was an opportunity to celebrate a life marked by vision, leadership, public service and enduring influence.
According to Professor Agbalagba, Ibori’s 68th birthday represents more than the passage of time, noting that it reflects decades of experience, impactful relationships, lives touched and significant contributions to society.
He said the former governor’s years in public service were characterised by vision, courage, resilience and a sustained commitment to the advancement of people and society, adding that his leadership has continued to inspire many beyond his years in office.
The Vice-Chancellor further noted that Ibori’s legacy extends beyond political office through the leaders he has mentored, the opportunities he has created and the positive impact he has made on countless lives.
Professor Agbalagba also acknowledged Ibori’s longstanding goodwill towards FUPRE, expressing the institution’s appreciation for his support in advancing the university’s growth and development.
He said the former governor’s belief in education as a catalyst for human empowerment and sustainable development aligns with FUPRE’s mandate of promoting knowledge, innovation and human capital development to support Nigeria’s energy sector.
According to him, the shared commitment to education and human capital development highlights the need to strengthen institutions, expand educational opportunities and equip citizens with the skills required to drive national development.
On behalf of the university community, the Vice-Chancellor prayed for renewed strength, wisdom, sound health and many more years of impactful service for the former governor.
He also prayed that God would continue to guide, preserve and bless Ibori as he marks another milestone, while wishing him a memorable 68th birthday and continued fulfilment in the years ahead.
