The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially set the record straight: Immigration CG Kemi Nandap is NOT in the crosshairs of any visa fraud probe.
In a terse statement on Tuesday, the anti-graft agency slammed media reports linking Nandap to an ongoing visa racketeering scandal as flat-out inaccurate.
“The Commission wishes to state unequivocally that it has no case with the Immigration CG,” declared EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale.
But here’s the twist: While the top boss is in the clear, the heat is still on her subordinates. The EFCC confirmed that criminal proceedings are already pending against some NIS officers at the Federal High Court—and warned that more arrests and prosecutions could be coming down the pipeline.
“Further investigations are ongoing with the possibility that more NIS officers could be arraigned for alleged fraudulent practices in the near future,” the agency added.
The EFCC also fired a warning shot at the media: verify your facts with us before publishing, or risk spreading misinformation.
For now, Nandap walks free but the net is tightening around those below her.
