Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has congratulated Chief Oghenero Okoro and Mrs. Gladys Aghogho Okpomor on their election to national leadership positions in the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
Okoro was elected First Vice President of the NBA, while Okpomor emerged as Assistant General Secretary of the association.
In a congratulatory statement, Dafinone described the victories as a proud moment for the Urhobo Nation, Delta State and Nigerians who believe in merit, excellence and selfless service.
The senator said the emergence of the two legal practitioners was a reflection of their years of distinguished legal practice, leadership and commitment to justice and the rule of law.
He noted that Okoro’s previous service as Chairman of the NBA Warri Branch and Okpomor’s tenure as Assistant General Secretary of the Young Lawyers Forum, Minna Branch, demonstrated their competence, integrity and dedication to the legal profession.
According to Dafinone, their election was “a fitting reward for years of professionalism, diligence, and hard work that truly embody the enduring Urhobo Can-Do Spirit.”
He urged the newly elected NBA leaders to deploy their experience and sound judgment towards advancing the association’s vision and strengthening the legal profession.
Dafinone further called on them to uphold the highest ethical standards, promote judicial independence and support reforms capable of enhancing public confidence in Nigeria’s justice system.
The senator said their achievements should serve as an inspiration to young lawyers and professionals across Delta Central and Nigeria, adding that their success demonstrated that integrity, competence, resilience and selfless service remained important pathways to enduring leadership.
“Your achievements should inspire a new generation of young lawyers and professionals across Delta Central and Nigeria,” he said.
Dafinone expressed confidence that their tenure would leave a lasting legacy of excellence and purposeful service in the legal profession.
He wished Okoro and Okpomor wisdom, strength, good health and God’s guidance as they assume their new responsibilities, saying their service would bring greater honour to the legal profession, pride to the Urhobo Nation and value to Nigeria.
