He said, “Mr Speaker, you will recall that the Delta State Local Government Amendment Bill 2024 was read the first time on Wednesday 27 November 2024, and on December 4th, the bill was read the second time and subsequently committed to the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for further Legislative scrutiny.

“Mr Speaker, the Committee resolved for a public hearing which was held on the 10th of December with representatives of Directorate for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Delta State Chapter of ALGON and the State Ministry of Justice in attendance.

“Mr Speaker, after a thorough examination of the Bill, the Committee is of the view that the Bill is amended as shown in the annexure attached for the consideration of the House and passage”, Fred Martins stated.
