There are 25 local government areas in Delta state. All the local government areas have PDP members as their chairmen in the councils. Not one is an APC chairman. This is because everyone knows that PDP is in charge in Delta as APC is in charge in Lagos.
But in the last governorship election, the ruling PDP in Delta lost two council areas to the APC and the reason is obvious. The two council areas the PDP lost are Ughelli North and Ethiope East.
These two council areas are strongholds of APC stalwarts in the state. The Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege and Otega Emerhor, APC strongman are from this Ughelli North.
Great Ovedje Ogboru is from Ethiope East. This was why the APC won Ethiope East during the last governorship election. These factors are likely still going to play out in the March 6 local government election.
Other two local government areas where the PDP may find it rough are Udu and Ughelli South. These are areas close to Omo-Agege and Rev. Francis Waive, member of the House of Representatives, representing Ughelli North, South and Udu areas.
With the presence of these political bigwigs, there is definitely going to be a big battle for the PDP as Omo-Agege may not want the PDP to win his council area.
Allowing the PDP to win his council areas will be seen as weakness on the part of the Deputy Senate President and the member of the House of Reps
