The Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oshimili South Local Government Area, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji, yesterday expressed confidence that the party will win the chairmanship election held in the area.
Speaking with newsmen, after casting his vote at his Unit 8 Ward Four (INEC), Umuezei, Okonji said the election was peaceful, free and fair in the entire local government area, commending the people for the massive turn out, despite the initial hiccup.
While saying that the turnout was impressive, he praised Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the State Party Chairman, Kingsley Esiso and the Delta North Senatorial Party Chairman, Moses Iduh, for their guidance that had placed the party on sound stead in the area and state in general.
Also, the Chairman of Ward Four (Umuezei), Mr. Ebenuwa, said he was impressed by the turn out, especially by the elderly and youths.
He commended the local government party chairman, Ogbueshi Okonji, and other party leaders for standing behind the candidates.
At Oko Amakom Primary School, Oko-Amakon, the PDP Chairmanship candidate, Mr. Obi Ezenyili, after casting his vote, told newsmen that he was satisfied with the process, adding that the turnout by the youths was an indication that they were ready to take leadership.
According to him, the election was one of the most peaceful exercises in recent time, adding that the youths were happy with the leaders for giving them opportunity to serve.
He thanked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and the local government party chairman, Ogbueshi Okonji, for giving the youths the platform to aspire for leadership.
Others, who also spoke at the various Wards visited, including Ward Four, 10, 11, Two and Eight, commended the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC), for organizing a peaceful election that witnessed an impressive turnout.
