AUSTIN OYIBODE
Do you know that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has got a new name in Delta state? It has been rebranded and redefined. It has been existing long but on Thursday, June 2, 2022, it got a new entrant whose membership has transformed the party and given it a new brand.

From that day, the party joined the league of leading political parties in Delta state. The entrance of Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi, the governorship candidate of the party in Delta state has redefined the party in the state. Gbagi is now the new face of SDP in the state.

SDP has been existing over the years but it has not gotten a brand as Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi. With the entrance of Gbagi, the party is expected to boom and shine in Delta. With the political experience of Gbagi, his contacts and business acumen, the SDP will soon become the leading party in the entire Delta state.

This is because Gbagi will deploy his years of experience and political knowledge into the party and push it beyond where it has been over the years. Gbagi is a man who is known and with his name the party will definitely move into the nooks and crannies of the state.

Gbagi is set to employ his strength to boost the party and strategise greatly for the 2023 governorship election. Gbagi is billed to win the election. The facts are clear, he is the most experienced person who can transform the state and move it from its present decay to a livable and prosperous one.

Gbagi has the political will and passion to develop Delta, move it to the next level and build a new brand for the good of all Deltans. He has the ability to transform the state and make it the envy of others in Nigeria. Delta has the potential to be one of the leading states in Nigeria. Besides being a leading state, it has the resources that can make every resident live a good life and enjoy the best of life.

From the North to the Southern zone of the state, Delta is endowed with great but untapped resources. If these resources are effectively utilized, there is no reason why an indigene should go hungry in the state. But most of the governments that have ruled, have always depended on oil revenue and the windfall from the federal government. This has been the bane of development in the state.

Rather than looking inwards, most of our leaders look outward to what will come from the federal government. But Gbagi, with his business acumen and political will, is set to look inwards and build a better and more economically viable Delta for all. Gbagi is well placed to be the only person who can achieve this and change the narrative.

He is independent minded. He is not tied to the apron string of any godfather who will, at the background, siphon the funds accruing to the state. He is not depending on the resources of the state to earn his living. He is already made. His desire at the moment is a better life for all. This is his dream.

However, this can only be achieved when every Deltan of a voting age vote for him at the 2023 general elections. As at present, there are four governorship candidates, Sheriff Oborevwori of the PDP, Ovie omo-Agege of the APC, Great Ovedje Ogboru of APGA and Kenneth Gbagi of the SDP. Among the four, Gbagi is the only one who is well placed to take Delta to the next level. Let’s queue behind him for a greater, beautiful and livable Delta.
