Delta2023: Urhobo youths collectively endorse governorship candidate, state important reasons

Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Youth Wing, worldwide led by its President General, Comrade Umukoro Efemena embarked on a consultative tour on all Urhobo gubernatorial candidates. We met the SDP candidate and the APC candidate who was represented by his deputy governorship candidate. But with the understanding that there is no recognized candidate yet for the PDP as the tussle for their gubernatorial ticket not likely to end anytime soon, we had to let them be. The candidate of APGA was not available to receive us during our visit as all attempts to get a reschedule met a brick wall. This consultation was aimed at listening to their agenda and see who has the interest of Urhobo youths at heart.

During this visit, we discussed and told them that we are in search of a youth friendly governor, not necessarily a youth but the one who can make sure that Urhobo youths and Delta State youths at large are fully recognized and always in the 2023 dispensation. We told them we are tired of this setback in our nation, we want a governor that we can trust and work with.

After wide consultations and series of meetings, we concluded that the Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege and Rt Hon Friday Osanebi ticket is the ticket we can trust, holding to the fact that the deputy governorship candidate of the APC is one of us as a youth and who is best called the EMPOWERMENT MASTER both in theory and practical.

He, on several occasions, showed traits of a detribalized Deltan, a man that is loved by the youth of Delta and he has consistently been in touch with the UPU leadership since the inception of our meeting. Though this decision was a thorough one because the Urhobo youths have always been my leadership’s priority and we have consistently rooted for them since I emerged as the president of the youths.

We can no longer take the back seat. Therefore, it is time to ensure that next year, our interests as youths MUST be protected.

This is the pathway to secure a youth friendly government.

We can’t afford to continue to seat back and watch premature players take the key role. We are here to lead from the frontline.
It is indeed Youth O’clock and we shall do everything within our powers to ensure we work with the above ticket to make that dream of ours a reality.

I, therefore, urge all Delta state youths to queue behind us as we make history together with Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege and Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi gubernatorial candidacies.

On the above, I therefore on behalf of myself, my dynasty, and the entire Urhobo youths, accept the appointment given to me by Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege and Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi campaign organization to be the DELTA STATE YOUTH DEPUTY CAMPAIGN DIRECTOR GENERAL for me to contribute my quota to their ascension to the Delta State Government House come 2023.

I will do all I can, including material and human resources to make this dream a reality because Urhobo Youths have been marginalized and looked down on for too long. It is time to get directly involved in enthroning a trustworthy government.
I admonish all our Youth to know that on this Vision we stand and it is for a better Urhobo Nation and Delta State for us all.

Comr. Umukoro Efemena aka Akima
President General, UPU Youth Wing.
