Delta2023: Want to get best hand to govern Delta? Check out what PDP delegates must not do

AUSTIN OYIBODE

The primary election to select a governorship candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will be coming in May, according to the timetable of the PDP. The election is in the hands of party delegates to be selected from the party across the 25 local government areas of the state.
There are also about 14 aspirants who have obtained PDP governorship forms to vie for the plum job. We know very well that out of the 14 aspirants, it’s only one that will emerge as party candidate after the primaries.

Many of the aspirants are ready to do whatever is possible to clinch the party ticket and become party candidate and be prepared to lock horns with the APC candidate, Omo-Agege and others in the race. Then, the race for the general election will commence.

However, there are some things the delegates must not do. We all need the best man who should take over the seat of power after Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on May 29, 2023. The first job is in the hands of the delegates from the wards and the local government areas.

Their action will determine who emerges, whether a bad man or a good man, whether a thief or a man with a heart of gold. It is also in their hands to determine whether a man with conscience or man who has sold his conscience to the devil emerges as party candidate. If the delegates elect a man who has sold his heart to the devil, they must have succeeded in selling the state to the devil and sealing our doom for the next eight years.

It is also in their hands to determine whether a man of vision or a visionless man is elected as party candidate. They must know that if they elect a visionless man, its consequence will spread and affect everyone for the next eight years. The multiplier effect will be catastrophic.

They must consider the future of their children and the generations yet unborn. They must know that there is so much money in the state which must be well managed and harnessed by a man who has the heart of Deltans at heart. They should know that Deltans do not need a man who will push state treasury to service one godfather in his house or abroad while the masses are wallowing in penury and hunger. No, Deltans do not need such a man as governor.

Deltans do not need a man who will be tele-guided and remote-controlled by a man in his home who has left office, dictating what to be done and not to be done. No, Deltans do not need such men. Deltans need independent minded persons who only listen to the voice of the generality of Deltans and not godfathers who dictate their will at the detriment of the people.

Therefore, voting on the basis of the highest bidder will defeat this objective. Voting according to dictates of some powerful individuals will defeat this noble cause. Voting along the line of party is supreme will kill and bury this great dream. It will inflict pains on our people and the multiplier effect will be more calamitous and contagious than the immediate financial gratification.

Yes, many will bring so much money to induce you and blind your mind. We understand some have heaped up huge cash they will spray on delegates on the day of primaries. We should know that the money belongs to all us. It is not their money. We are free to collect the money but we should not give them our mind, we should vote for the right man.

We should not allow their money to sway our decisions and kill our conscience. Yes, we should hold our mind and vote out thieves, financial criminals, corrupt people, people who are sponsored by supposed godfathers, people imposed by party leaders who think Delta is their own or their father’s property, people who think only their idea is the best for the over four million people in Delta state. Let’s vote out these people. They do not mean well for us. They have stolen enough money, let’s drive them away.

We should examine the character of each of the aspirants and vote a man who has a sincere mind for Delta state. Many of them want to sell Delta into their private pockets and the pockets of their sponsors. Let’s say NO to them. They have amassed enough wealth from the state that can take care of their families for the next generations. Let’s take a decision for our collective destinies.

Let us vote for a development minded individuals. Let’s check their antecedents. What offices have they occupied before now? What success did they record while in that office? What is their financial record while in the office? How did they impact lives while in the office? Where did they make their money from, is it just in politics or business? Those who made their money only in politics are thieves and robbers. They are only going to continue the theft.

So, PDP delegates must be watchful and screen all the delegates and make the right and best decision for the good of our unborn generation. Let’s jettison imposition. Money is good but if we are swayed by money, our future will remain mortgaged for life. Take a decision!! Act Right!!! The time is NOW!!! Yes, NOW!!!
