On March 11, 2023, all Deltans of voting age will go to the polls to elect a new governor. In the governorship race, there are three major contenders, Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi of the Social Democratic Party SDP, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressive Congress APC and Sheriff Oborevwori of the People’s Democratic Party PDP.

Among the three candidates, Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi has toured a large percentage of churches, especially the Anglican, the Catholic and the pentecostals. In these churches, Christians gathered to listen to the governorship candidate. In the meetings, Gbagi revealed his plans and programmes to them. He revealed his desire for a better and prosperous Delta to the Christian leaders.

In his tour around the churches, he told the church leaders what he would do for every Deltan if eventually he emerges governor of Delta state. He told them that Delta state has all the resources needed to move the state out of the present situation. But the current leaders have plunged the state into unimaginable mess.

He told the church leaders that Delta is in a mess and that it needed a man with a great and uncommon vision and entrepreneural push to pull Delta from the present economic quagmire. He told them he has the willpower and the drive to make Delta the renvy of other states in Nigeria if given the mandate by the people. He revealed that Delta has fallen very faraway from where it ought to be among the comity of states in Nigeria.

In all the churches he visited, he poured out his mind to the pastors, bishops and Reverends who graced the meetings across the state. He showed himself to be a man equipped with the requisite skills to champion the cause for a united and prosperous Delta state. Yes, Gbagi was bold to make promises and never blinked his eyes. That is the man the people of Delta need to wake up from the present mess of a state.

Now, what must the church in Delta do? In all the meetings, the pastors, church leaders and members spoke good of Gbagi’s vision and plans for a greater Delta. They saw him as the hope Delta people have been waiting for. They agreed that he has the wherewithal and the knowledge base to pull the state out of the woods.

Now, on March 11, 2023 Deltans of voting age and with PVCs will go to the polls to elect a new governor. What should the church do? The church leaders must stand by their words. They need to persuade their people to vote for the right candidate. The right candidate from all indications is Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi, the great son of Oginibo in Ughelli South local government area of Delta state.

The church leaders must stand by their words and confirm them by voting the right man for the job. Church leaders are seen as opinion leaders who can easily sway the minds of their followers in the right direction. Yes, church leaders have power to persuade their adherents to do the right thing. And the right candidate for this election is Olorogun Barrister Kenneth Gbagi.

The facts are clear. He is not a corrupt man as many others. The evidence of his incorruptibility are known to all. He is a prudent financial manager. He is a world class business entrepreneur. He is an industrialist. He has, on several fora, said he will transform Delta across board. And we know him to be a man who stands by his words. This is Gbagi’s selling point.

The era of singing party is supreme is over. This time Deltans do not need party is supreme, Deltans need men with supreme will to break the jinx and make life meaningful and beautiful for everyone. Party is supreme has produced party men who only bear allegiance to their political parties but not loyal to the people who elected them. This is not what Deltans want now.

This is where the church must come in. Church leaders must need evangelise their followers and make them know that their future should not be traded under parties but their votes should be for the candidate that has the capacity to transform our lives and make our state liveable for all, and not people who are only loyal to political parties at the detriment of the masses.
