Former Minister of Aviation and Nigeria’s Ambassador-Designate to South Africa, Lesotho and Eswatini, Femi Fani-Kayode, has met with the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, as part of preparations for his new diplomatic assignment.
Fani-Kayode disclosed details of the meeting in a post on his X handle on Friday, stating that he visited the minister in his office in Abuja to brief him on his readiness to assume his ambassadorial duties.
According to him, the discussions centred on his forthcoming role as Nigeria’s representative to the Republic of South Africa, the Kingdom of Lesotho and the Kingdom of Eswatini.
“It was my honour and pleasure to pay my friend and brother, His Excellency Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi, the Minister of Information and National Orientation of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, a visit in his office yesterday,” he wrote.
Fani-Kayode described Idris as a dependable ally who has stood by him over the years, commending the minister’s performance in managing the nation’s information and orientation portfolio.
He also pledged his continued support for the Federal Government’s communication efforts, particularly in promoting the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The former minister’s meeting with Idris comes ahead of his departure to begin his diplomatic assignment in Southern Africa, where he is expected to represent Nigeria’s interests and strengthen bilateral relations with the three countries.
