Political Adviser to National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Chairman of Asaba Capital Territory Development Agency, Chief Ighoyota Amori, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for not interfering in the governorship election of Edo state.

Chief Amori also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting one of the most credible elections in recent times in Nigeria. Chief Amori also congratulated the people of Edo state for being peaceful throughout the period of the elections.

In a statement he made available to journalists in Asaba, Chief Amori said the conduct of the Edo2020 election was a demonstration of real democracy, saying in any election, there must be a winner and a loser.

The statement he made read: “Let me first express my thanks and appreciation to Mr. President for conducting a free and fair election with infinitesimal disruption which couldn’t affect the outcome of election results so far.

“ I also want to place it on record that this is the best election INEC has conducted in recent times. Kudos to INEC. I congratulate the people of Edo state for their peaceful conduct during and after the casting of their votes.

“This is real democracy in action. In any election, there must be a winner and also a loser. So far, the PDP candidate, H.E Mr. Godwin Obaseki has emerged winner of the election in Edo state.

“ For me I advise that Obaseki and the PDP should be magnanimous in victory. This victory is of God and not man. He has weathered all the storms and should embrace all those that contested against him in order to enhance democracy.

“For the PDP team led by His Excellencies, Govs Nysom Wike, Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, Seyin Makinde and many others, I say congratulations to our National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus and members of the National Working Committee and indeed all the PDP members in the world for this sweet victory.”
