Peter Obi blasts fresh massacres in Benue and Plateau, telling Nigeria’s leaders: “Stop mourning, start hunting the killers!”
The NDC presidential candidate says the weekend slaughter of at least 18 people including a two-month-old baby – is a “painful reminder” that Nigeria’s bloodshed has gone on FAR too long.
“We cannot accept this tragic cycle as normal,” Obi declared in a fiery statement on Monday.
The Horrific Toll:
· Benue State: 16 killed in Otukpo-Nobi, plus 2 more in Akpachi village – 18 dead total
· Plateau State: 9 members of ONE family murdered in Riyom, including a 2-month-old infant
Obi’s Blunt Message to Government:
. “Stop routine condemnations!”
. Build an intelligence-driven, rapid-response security system
. Arrest and prosecute the killers – end the culture of impunity
“The primary responsibility of any government is protection of lives and property. Every Nigerian life is sacred – these are not statistics, they are fathers, mothers, children, and future leaders.”
‘This Is About Humanity, Not Politics’
Obi declared: “No country can develop when its citizens live in fear. No society can prosper when innocent blood flows unchecked.”
His message to grieving families in Benue and Plateau: “You are not forgotten.”
But his message to Abuja is clear: “ENOUGH TALK. NOW ACT.”
