Final Countdown: INEC Shuts Voter Registration This Sunday – Don’t Be Left Out of 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued a last-minute rallying cry to all eligible Nigerians: the door to voter registration is closing this Sunday, July 26, 2026, and there will be no extensions.

In a forceful public notice shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday, the electoral body urged citizens to seize the remaining hours of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, emphasizing that procrastination could cost them their voice in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

“Your future won’t wait. Neither should you. The Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ends Sunday, 26 July 2026,” the commission declared, striking an urgent tone to spur undecided registrants into action.

To ensure no one is left behind, INEC highlighted two seamless pathways for registration. Tech-savvy Nigerians can complete the entire process remotely from start to finish by logging onto the dedicated CVR portal at cvr.inecnigeria.org. For those who prefer a hands-on approach or require physical assistance, the commission has thrown open its doors at all state offices, local government area offices, and designated registration centers nationwide.

In a move to accommodate busy schedules, INEC confirmed that all registration centers will operate daily, including weekends, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. until the exercise officially concludes on Sunday.

“You can complete your voter registration online from start to finish. If you need assistance, visit any INEC State Office, LGA Office, or designated registration centre to complete your registration in person,” the commission reiterated.

This final phase of the CVR is a critical component of INEC’s logistical blueprint for the 2027 elections, aimed at capturing new eligible voters and updating the records of existing ones to ensure a credible, inclusive, and up-to-date national voter register.

With the clock ticking, INEC’s message is clear: Act now, or wait until 2031.
