The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Rivers State has dismissed reports claiming that the name of its Deputy Governorship Candidate, Dr. Mike Barieenee Nwielaghi, was not uploaded on the portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The party’s media directorate, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Thursday, said the claim was false and misleading. It stated that Nwielaghi’s name was successfully uploaded by INEC and that he remains the duly presented and recognised Deputy Governorship Candidate of the NDC in Rivers State.
The party urged members of the public, its supporters and the media to disregard publications suggesting otherwise, stressing that political discourse should be based on facts rather than speculation or misinformation.
The NDC Rivers State media directorate said the party remains committed to transparency, due process and issue-based political engagement. It also called on journalists and members of the public to verify electoral information from appropriate official sources before sharing claims that could mislead the electorate.
Nwielaghi, while confirming the uploading of his name by INEC, said the party was prepared to take over power at the next poll and provide Rivers residents with what he described as the best democracy they deserve.
He also described the NDC governorship candidate, Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs, as a man loved by the people of Rivers State.
