Afrobeats superstar Davido has taken a swipe at the Nigeria Police Force over reports that some officers deployed to Osun State for the August 15 governorship election have remained in the state weeks after the election.
Davido reacted to the development through his verified X handle, questioning why the officers had not yet been withdrawn to their original formations.
“Could it be because dem no deliver?” the singer wrote.
The officers were reportedly drawn from different Mobile Police Force squadrons and deployed to Osun ahead of the governorship election. However, reports indicate that some of them have remained in various camps across the state even after the poll was concluded.
The development attracted Davido’s attention, with the singer publicly questioning whether the continued presence of the officers was connected to the outcome of the election.
Davido had openly supported the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, who is also his uncle, during the election.
Adeleke was declared the winner after securing 511,067 votes and winning in 19 local government areas. His major challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, APC, polled 444,815 votes and won in 11 local government areas.The reported continued deployment of the police officers has now become a subject of public attention, particularly following Davido’s reaction to the situation.
