There was heavy gunshot at the Lapai Local Government area of Niger State on Saturday night following the congress of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
DAILY POST gathered that the gunshots which were fired for about 30 minutes marred the congress in the local government.
According to reports, the exercise turned violent when delegates supporting different candidates clashed and were engaged in physical fight.
The Chairman, Niger State APC Congress Committee, Senator Domigo Obende, while speaking with reporters, called on party members to shun violence of any form during and after the congress.
When contacted by DAILY POST, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Wasiu A. Abiodun said he was yet to receive the report.
He promised to “find out and get back” to our correspondent shortly.
It was learnt that the areas where violence marred voting are to have their congresses concluded on Sunday.
