Senator Ned Nwoko’s country residence in Idumuje-Ugboko welcomed yet another significant delegation on Friday, as traditional leaders and community representatives from Igbanke paid a visit to express their continued support for the creation of Anioma State.
Led by Amb. Chief Jude Ogbekile and HRH Boba Igiebor, the Obi of Idumuodin, the Igbanke delegation reiterated their desire to be included in the proposed Anioma State.
The visit aligns with the growing grassroots momentum behind the movement, which Senator Nwoko has championed in the Senate.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Amb. Chief Ogbekile emphasized Igbanke’s cultural and ethnic alignment with the Anioma (Igbo) people, despite being geographically located in Edo State.
“We are Igbo people in Edo State. Igbanke is not Bini. Our place is with Anioma, and we are here to reaffirm that,” he stated.
HRH Boba Igiebor echoed these sentiments, highlighting the community’s sense of identity and shared heritage with the Anioma people.
“Our people know their roots. Anioma State will give us a stronger sense of belonging and a platform for growth,” he said.
To reinforce their message, the delegation presented an e-flyer boldly declaring, “IGBANKE IS NOT BINI — Igbankes Are Igbo Community in Edo State.”
This visit follows a similar one in November 2024, when monarchs from Igbanke and Obazagbon voiced their support for Anioma State.
Both traditional rulers and community leaders have consistently underscored the need for administrative autonomy, arguing that it would lead to greater representation and accelerated development for the Anioma people.
