On Wednesday, Anambra State governor-elect, Prof Chukwuma Soludo announced that as a strategy to promote local brands, Innoson Vehicle Motors will be makers of his official vehicles.
He said this during his interaction with the members of his transition committee.
The governor-elect also said it was not a coincidence that he has been wearing local fabrics known as Akwete.
According to him, it was intentional to support local brands, with the intention to make a statement with it.
“My Akwete dress is not just a dress, it’s a statement. I want to make a statement with it. You know, in the entire South-East, this is the only textile thing alive, and it’s handmade, by the women of Akwaete in Abia State.
“Igbo land is one and we must protect it. We want to bring back the zeal of patronizing our own. I have said it even during campaigns, and I meant it, that if I win, the official car of the governor of Anambra State will be Innoson motors.
“The dresses I will wear are those made in our place here. We must protect the things that are made in our place. Something is about to happen in Igboland, and together we will get there.”
Reacting to this, Innoson Vehicle Motors appreciated Soludo for choosing its company as makers of his official vehicles.
In a statement released on it official Facebook page, the company wrote;
“Thank you Prof Chukwuma Soludo @CCsoludo for stating categorically that Innoson Vehicles will be your official vehicles during your term as the Governor.
The Chairman, Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma is so excited about this motivating news and ready to partner with your Government to make cars affordable to the people.
We believe that with your support Innoson Vehicles will continue to provide quality service to the people and help make it possible for the people to be able to afford brand new vehicle.”
On assumption to office, we look forward to welcoming you to the vehicle manufacturing plant to see how far we have come and how your support and patronage will take us to an enviable heights.
