An Isoko man from Delta state who lives in Yenagoa but specalises in exchanging new Naira notes during public functions as weddings, burials and others was on Friday shot dead as he stepped out of A Guarantee Trust Bank in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital. The robbers took away his money after raining bullets on him. The bank is located along Sani Abacha Expressway.

The three-man armed robbery gang, who arrived the premises of the bank in masks and tinted Camry car, shot dead the bank customer while coming out of the bank with a bag suspected to containing some amount of money.

The murdered bank customer, who was later identified as “Ibori”, hails from Isoko land in Delta state and was into sale of new naira notes during public functions including burial and wedding ceremonies.

According to an eyewitness, “Immediately the man entered a waiting tricycle (Keke), a masked gunman dressed in black clothing alighted from the supposed Toyota Camry car.

“On sighting the gunman, the victim ran out of the keke and moved towards the bush path behind the bank entrance where he was shot on the stomach, and he fell. The gunman then shot him repeatedly on his abdomen before collecting the bag suspected to containing some amount of money, and zoomed off towards the popular Julius Berger roundabout in the waiting Camry”.”

Our reporter gathered that policemen attached to the GTBank and its neighbouring Sterling Bank responded with scary shots, but could not hit the target due to the huge crowd at the bank premises.
