Mayor Akpodoro seeks ministerial appointment for Emerhor, says he alone can replicate Edo’s victory in Delta, blocks moves by Omo-Agege

The Mayor of Urhoboland who is also the National President of the National Coalition of Niger Delta Ex-Agitators, NCNDE-A, Eshanakpe Israel a.k.a Akpodoro, has called on the Abdullahi Ganduje-led All Progressives Congress, APC, to consider Olorogun O’tega Emerhor for appointment as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

In a statement made available to Emerald News, Akpodoro said the appointment was necessary to steer the ship of the party and reposition it to replicate the recent victory of Senator Monday Okpebholo in the just concluded gubernatorial poll in the neighbouring Edo State.

The call, according to the Mayor, is borne out of the need to remind the party not to allow the former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, to hijack the party structure in Delta state.

Akpodoro said Omo-Agege is jinxed for failure just as he described him as an agent of discord who he accused of thwarting the APC in the oil-rich state.

The former militant leader called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider Olorogun Emerhor for an appointment into his cabinet to bring his vast experiences in the banking and insurance industry to bear on the current administration.

He stated further that Olorogun Emerhor, like the President, is a talent hunter who walks and works with the best, and “he leads from the front by example.”

He noted with grave concern that the former lawmaker, Omo-Agege, has no idea on how best to manage a political party structure and should not be considered for appointment into the current administration.

He said if the appointment is based on loyalty, honesty and sincerity of purpose, Mr. Omo-Agege is not qualified to hold any position under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He added that the former lawmaker who represented Delta Central Senatorial District in the 9th Assembly lacks leadership qualities stating that only the Evweni -born politician can achieve fortunes for the broom party in 2027.

According to Mayor Akpodoro, Olorogun Emerhor is the founding father of the APC in Delta State and should not be trampled upon for the second time by a desperate and greedy fellow who is a member of the broom party because he holds its ticket.

The Mayor said Olorogun Emerhor has proven his mettle in human and material management over the years and has demonstrated capacity to manage people and lead them to victory.

He described Emerhor as a uniting force who can bring all aggrieved members back to the fold of the party saying, “only Emerhor can gather what Omo-Agege has scattered.”

Having led the party and stoically remains on course with unwavering loyalty to the party, the President and his party should appoint Olorogun Emerhor to position of authority as he plans to tinker with his cabinet.

Emorhor, according to Akpodoro, is a man with intimidating moral credentials, credibility, acceptance based popularity, superlative track records, character, capacity, humility, large heart and detribalised unlike “those who worship small gods around local streams strapped in white regalia.”

The Mayor who congratulated the APC as a body, the leadership of the party in Edo State and President Tinubu, noted that Tinubu has been able to instil confidence for a better and stronger Nigeria in the citizenry adducing the victory of the APC gubernatorial victory to the achievement of the current administration for which the people are happy.

Mayor Akpodoro recalled that the former Deputy Senate President did not, from the onset, support the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu and should not be patronised by Tinubu’s administration.

“Mr Omo-Agege, towards the APC national convention, was solidly behind retention of the presidency by the North against the general consensus of returning power to the south.

“As if that was not enough, the lawmaker furthered his perfidy into his campaigns, where he never referenced the president during or after his state-wide campaigns and consultations.

“Such is the hatred Omo-Agege has for the current administration and should not be honoured with any appointment but such should go to the strongest pillar in the state APC in the person of Emerhor,” the Mayor stated.
