The Mayor of Urhoboland, Eshanakpe Israel, a.k.a Akpodoro, has commended the electorates over the support given to the governor-elect of Delta state, Sheriff Oborevwori, and at the same time thanked them for rejecting the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege at the polls.
In a statement made available to Emerald News on Wednesday, Akpodoro called on Omo-Agege not to contemplate going into litigation, noting that if the election is conducted one million times, the deputy senate president, Ovie Omo-Agege will still be rejected by Deltans.
The statement was made after a stakeholders meeting held in Abuja to review the electoral behaviour of the Niger Delta electorates before, during, and after the elections.
In the statement, Akpodoro said the people of Delta state have spoken through their votes and their wish must be respected as he called on the judiciary not to entertain what he called frivolous cases as the 2023 general elections are concerned.
Mayor Akpodoro stated further that of major importance is the commendation of the Delta state electorates, particularly the youths who filed behind the candidacy of Oborevwori at the March 18 poll.
According to him, at the state level, he delivered his ward to the governor-elect in the oil-rich Delta state saying he owes the people, youths, and all Deltans huge gratitude for listening to what he termed words of wisdom in his call for continuity of good governance in the state.
Akpodoro called on the youths of the state to support him in his drive to wrest the pipeline’s security surveillance contract that was allegedly awarded to Senator Omo-Agege.
