NEWS EXTRA: 6 Nigerian governors who have tested positive to COVID-19

The deadly coronavirus was first detected in Nigeria on February 27, 2020 through an Italian who flew into the country. From then till date, important and high profile Nigerians have contracted the coronavirus. Among these high profile Nigerians are six governors, spread across the geo-political divide in Nigeria.

Among the governors are Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state, who got in contact with Mallam Abba Kyari, former chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari. Abba Kyari has died and buried. Bala has, however, recovered and back to his office. Then, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state. He tested positive but has also recovered.

In the same vein, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state tested positive and like others, he has recovered too. Now, the latest three are Governor of Abia State, Victor Okezie Ikpeazu. He is said to have diabetes and is being treated in Abuja, the nation’s capital. He is said to have been in treatment for up to 30 days.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state is the fifth governor who tested positive. He said he is fine and healthy. He has not displayed any symptom of the virus, though he tested positive. And just this morning, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state was reported to have tested positive to the lethal virus.

Out of the six governors, three have recovered. It is the belief of Nigerians that these three latest will also recovered and return back to their offices. Nigerians are praying for them and well meaning individuals.
