Former Governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke, has said that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is lucky to have a great leader like the Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.

He made the disclosure on Wednesday June 30, while commissioning the reconstructed 10.2-kilometre Alihame/Agbor-Nta/Oki road and side drains in Agbor, and Abavo Circular Road Phase II and III, Abavo, both in Ika South Local Government Area

He described Okowa, as the “glue gum” holding PDP South-South together, saying that the party’s national convention chaired by the governor of Delta in 2019, gave added impetus to the uniqueness of internal democracy PDP, a well delivered assignment that was applauded by all and sundry, across political divide.

Imoke, noted that Okowa, played key roles in Edo governorship election in 2020, which led to PDP and Governor Godwin Obaseki’s victory, adding that we have very few governors like him in Nigeria.

“Gov Okowa, is one governor that we all celebrate. We admire him for his humility, fantastic intelligence, integrity, performance, quality service delivery, and above all, he’s God fearing.

“Nigerians need people like Gov Okowa, and I mean it with everything within me. I have worked very closely with him, and I dare to say that he is a great man for Deltans and Nigerians, at this time.

“He is the super glue gum that is holding the South-South PDP together, and I urge Deltans to celebrate Senator Okowa, because we have few governors like him in this country.

“Okowa brought significant development, I mean genuine and transformational grassroots and socioeconomic development to this fast growing state, and it is heart warming.

“I have no doubts in my mind that in the next two years, he will complete all the projects that he promised Deltans, and then move on to greater heights in public service and political leadership,” Imoke assured.

Speaking earlier, governor Okowa said the construction of the Abavo Circular Road was part of his electioneering campaign promise to the people of Above and environ, saying that good road network is an integral part of socioeconomic and infrastructure development.

He disclosed that government will slow down on road projects and focus on education and health infrastructure, as well as human capital development, job and wealth creation, etcetera, going forward.

“I commend the management of Sharpstone Nigeria Limited, for the quality job put in place here. We commissioned the phase one in 2018, and we are here again in 2021 to commission the the last phases of this project.

“I thank the former governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke, for honouring our invitation to join me in the inauguration of this gigantic project.

“He is one of the great leaders of our party, PDP, a man of uncommon humility and integrity,” Okowa said.
