Former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa made another appearance at the EFCC’s Lagos office, with sources confirming his visit ties to an ongoing probe into alleged financial misdeeds during his 2015–2023 tenure.
The anti-graft agency previously arrested him in November 2024 over claims he diverted N1.3 trillion and used state funds to buy properties in Asaba and Abuja.
Okowa, who has consistently denied wrongdoing, insists the money was “judiciously used” and has dismissed the EFCC’s actions as a “media trial.” He remains defiant, stating, “I may not be a saint, but I served with hope and desire to help our people.”
The former PDP vice-presidential candidate later shocked the political scene in April 2025 when he defected to the APC alongside his successor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and other Delta politicians. His EFCC visit signals the corruption case is far from over.
