Read what will happen to drunk tipper driver who crashed into Anambra bridge

The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi has said the tipper driver involved in a lone accident under Kwata bridge along Awka – Enugu expressway, Anambra State would be prosecuted.

The driver reportedly drunk was said to be have lost control of the tipper as a result of excessive speeding and crashed into the bridge barricade.

Mr. Kumapayi in a statement issued by the Ag. Sector Public Education Officer, Kamal Musa, admonished motorist not to exceed the maximum speed limit of 50km per hour in built-up areas.

He said, “At about 1230hrs today Saturday 29 August, 2020 a serious Road Traffic Crash involving a Yellow Mercedes Benz 911 Tipper with registration number AKA 993 XA was recorded under Kwata bridge along Awka – Enugu expressway.

“According to eyewitnesses, the driver who was allegedly drunk lost control of the tipper as a result of excessive speeding and crashed into the bridge barricade.

“Two male adults were involved and one (1) male adult the driver who sustained injury was rushed to Amaku Teaching Hospital Awka, by FRSC rescue team from the Sector Command while obstruction is being cleared. No death recorded.

“The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi, wished the injured victim quick recovery.

“He assured the public of proper prosecution of the driver for indulging in drunk driving.”
