Anambra State Red Cross Society has pledged continued partnership with the Rotary Club to ensure that the gains against polio is sustained.
The assertion was made during the visit by the Rotary Club of UNIZIK, Awka to the Chairman, Anambra State Red Cross Society, Professor Peter Katchy in Awka.
The visit led by the President, Rotary Club of UNIZIK, Awka, Rotarian Abuchi Nwozor was to decorate and recognize Professor Katchy as Health ambassador in view of his contributions to the health sector including polio eradication while also seeking for his continued support in such regards.
Professor Katchy, who warmly received the UNIZIK, Awka Rotary Club, expressed happiness over the visit and noted that the Red Cross Society of Anambra State has been at the fore front in the fight against polio through massive awareness and vaccination programmes and thanked the club for the visit and honour.
In a remark, Rotarian Tochi Amalu, who is a District Officer of Rotary International District 9142 noted that though Nigeria has been certified polio free by the World Health Organization, the recognition of Professor Katchy was due to his disposition in fighting the polio menace and also being on the frontline during emergency situations in the State.
The former President of the Rotary Club and Station Manager of UNIZIK FM, Rotarian Ify Obi in a vote of thanks appreciated Professor Katchy for his good works.
The visit featured formal decoration of Professor Katchy with a polio vest and pin-up as Polio Ambassador.
