Information reaching our newsroom reveals that the service chiefs who were recently appointed as non-career ambassadors by President Muhammadu Buhari will not receive salaries, and this is authoritative.
According to Sahara Reporters, Gen. Tukur Buratai, Gen Abayomi Olanisakin, Sadiq Abubakar and Admiral Ibok EtebAbas from any public office they hold.
Emerald News learnt that the retired generals have the option of choosing to receive salaries from their new offices and forfeit the retirement benefits from the military or abandon the the salaries of the new offices and enjoy the retirement benefits from the military.
Findings by Sahara Reporters show that the four retired military officers prefer to receive only allowances and forfeit the ambassadorial salaries and continue to enjoy the benefits of military retirement.
The retired officers were appointed as non-career ambassadors by President Muhammadu Buhari amidst outcry from a wide spectrum of Nigerians. The four are opting for the military benefits because it is juicier than the salaries from office of ambassadors.
