Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has congratulated former President-General of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Chief Engr. Joe Omene, on the occasion of his 80th birthday anniversary.

In a goodwill message issued on Saturday, Senator Dafinone described Chief Omene as a distinguished leader, elder statesman, and a committed advocate of the Urhobo Nation whose contributions to the growth and development of the Urhobo people remain invaluable.

The senator praised the former UPU President-General for his outstanding role in preserving and promoting Urhobo culture, identity, values, and traditions, noting that his leadership came at a critical period in the history of the ethnic nationality.

According to Dafinone, Chief Omene’s tenure as leader of the UPU was marked by unwavering dedication to the unity, progress, and dignity of the Urhobo people, earning him respect across Delta State and beyond.

“As he celebrates this remarkable milestone, we honour a life defined by dedication, service, and commitment to the Urhobo Nation,” the senator stated.

He further commended the octogenarian’s wisdom, courage, and sacrifices in serving his people and contributing to the preservation of the Urhobo heritage, describing his life as an inspiration to younger generations.
