In a blaze of unparalleled excellence, Senator Ned Nwoko representing Delta North in the National Assembly has been ranked among Senators with the highest legislative impact at the National Assembly.

A special report released by the Senate leadership listed Senator Nwoko as one of the Senators with the most bills among the 109 Senators.

The report which is subtitled a “Summary of the Senate Amendment Bills under the 10th Senate of the National Assembly” showed that Senator Nwoko initiated 5 bills out of about 30 bills specially listed for deliberation by the Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution.

His bill on Anioma state creation was the only one of such bills listed for consideration, a testament of the seriousness attached to the draft legislation.

Bills on Diaspora voting, Parliamentary System of Government, Local Government Autonomy and life- saving medical aid on Emergency also featured as dominant themes in the constitution review.

Senator Nwoko is credited with a record number of 27 bills and 20 motions on the floor of the Senate, garnered since his inauguration on June 13, 2023, making him one of the most active Senators in the red chambers.

Senator Nwoko had also distinguished himself as a vocal lawmaker with trenchant advocacy on critical national issues.

He had been widely quoted with penetrating insights on security, electricity, water, oil theft, environmental degradation, gas flaring, revamping of the economy, social welfare for vulnerable Nigerians and entrepreneurship for sustainable growth.

To fast track development in Delta North, he recently initiated key projects across the three federal constituencies of Ika, Aniocha/Oshimili and Ndokwa/Ukwuani.

They included Sports facility in Issele-Uku, solar-powered borehole projects in Umunede and Idumuje-Ugboko, solar street light projects in Idumuje-Unor Idumuje-Ugboko, Onicha Ugbo, Asaba and Kwale.

Also undertaken by Senator Nwoko were
construction of a 2 km road project and renovation of police station at Idumuje-Ugboko as well as intervention on the rehabilitation of failed sections of Benin-Asaba expressway with the Ezenei, Okwe, Ubulu – Okoti and Igbodo axis completed.

Over 2,000 persons had benefited from the Senator’s skill acquisition and empowerment programmes dedicated to boosting gainful employment, wealth creation and health care among the people.

Last year, Senator Nwoko generally seen as a detribalized Deltan, championed the release of the traditional ruler of Ewu kingdom HRM Ovie Clement Ikolo, among others in Ughelli South local government area, who was detained over the bloody Okuama mayhem of March 14, 2024.
