Social media burns as APC yanks Obaseki from June 22 primaries
ShareTweetShareShare

Subscribers to social media have expressed disbelief over the disqualification of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state from the June 22 primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Obaseki and Adams Oshiomhole have been having running battle for the past months over the soul of Edo state. Although the issues appear to have been solved following the court which turned the suspension of Oshiomhole and returned him back to the chairmanship of the party

But after the court decision, issues seemed not to have been settled with the two men who have been fighting for the control of APC in Edo state. The frosty relationship between the two started  again and continued  up to the screening for the primaries billed for June 22 in Benin City, Edo state capital.

The screening was held on Friday and the result was the disqualification of Obaseki from the race on the ground of certificate and NYSC.

But the news from the screening committee took all Nigerians by surprise. It is surprising hecause the same Obaseki who contested in 2016 was qualified with the presentation of same credentials but now he is no longer fit because his certificate cannot be authenticated.

The question now is how was he qualified to run for 2016 but no longer qualified to run in 2020 using the same certificate. Or did he change the certificate to another one?

Social media users are angry that Oshiomhole has gone too far in destroying the political  career of his successor. Some said Oshiomhole has murdered sleep he cannot sleep .

Some said Oshiomhole is biting more than he can chew. Others said Obaseki should move over to the PDP and run against Oshiomhole’s candidate, and thereby turn Edo state back to PDP.

Social media users are expressing disaffection with the action of Oshiomhole.
