The Wife of the Delta State Governor and Founder of the You Matter Charity Foundation, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, has over the past three years etched her name in the hearts of many Deltans through a remarkable commitment to humanitarian service, compassion, and inclusive development.
Guided by the Foundation’s mantra, “Where Everybody is Somebody,” she has consistently demonstrated that leadership is not only about governance but also about touching lives, restoring hope, and uplifting the vulnerable irrespective of social, political, ethnic, or religious affiliations.
Since the establishment of the You Matter Charity Foundation in August 2023, the First Lady has championed numerous interventions aimed at improving the welfare of women, children, the elderly, persons living with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups across Delta State.
Three years on, the Foundation has become a symbol of hope, impacting thousands of lives through healthcare interventions, educational support, economic empowerment programmes, food assistance, advocacy campaigns, and community development initiatives.
HEALTHCARE INTERVENTIONS
Healthcare remains one of the core pillars of the Foundation.
The Foundation has sponsored life-changing medical treatments and surgeries for indigent patients, including the successful corrective surgery of Isioma Eforanimjor, an eight-year-old girl born with a rare congenital condition. The multiple-stage surgery, valued at over ten million naira, was fully sponsored through the You Matter Charity Foundation.
The Governor’s wife has also continued the tradition of visiting hospitals every New Year’s Day to welcome the first babies of the year, presenting gifts to newborns and settling medical bills for indigent patients.
In February this year, the You Matter Charity Foundation organized a free medical outreach for children with special needs and their caregivers, providing consultations, medications, and health education.
SUPPORT FOR PERSONS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
One of the defining features of the Foundation is its unwavering commitment to children living with autism and other special needs.
Every year, the Foundation commemorates World Autism Awareness Day through advocacy campaigns, sensitization programmes, and support initiatives.
This year, Deaconess Oborevwori led a statewide autism awareness campaign, involving different categories of persons, including the Nigerian Nollywood actors and actresses in a four-kilometre awareness walk in Asaba. Educational materials, smart tablets, toys, food items, medications, and financial support were distributed to children with special needs and their caregivers.
She also visited special schools and autism centres, including Madonna Inclusive School for Youngsters and Children with Special Needs, in Aniocha South and North, awcwell as Joy in Africa Centre for Autistic and Special Needs, reaffirming her commitment to building an inclusive society.
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
The empowerment of women has remained a central focus of the Foundation. Through various interventions, hundreds of women have received financial assistance, vocational tools, business grants, and skills acquisition opportunities aimed at improving their economic wellbeing.
One of the biggest empowerment programmes in 2026 was the “Give Her Power” Initiative, implemented in partnership with Fidelity Bank Plc.
Under the programme, five hundred market women from the twenty-five local government areas of Delta State received empowerment support.
Four hundred women benefitted from cash grants worth forty million naira, while others received sewing machines and grinding machines to strengthen their businesses and improve family livelihoods.
FOOD SECURITY AND SOCIAL SUPPORT
Recognizing the economic realities faced by many households, the Foundation launched its Food Bank Programme.
The initiative provides quarterly food support to vulnerable households across the state.
At its inaugural edition, over five hundred households received bags of rice, beans, garri, yam tubers, cooking oil, and other food items. The programme has continued to bring relief to struggling families while strengthening community support systems.
AGRICULTURAL EMPOWERMENT
In collaboration with the Renewed Hope Initiative of the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the You Matter Charity Foundation empowered over four hundred farmers across Delta State.
Beneficiaries received grants, farming tools, inputs, and equipment aimed at boosting food production and improving livelihoods.
The collaboration also provided financial support and food items to elderly citizens during the festive season.
SUPPORT FOR THE ELDERLY
The Foundation has consistently shown love and care for elderly citizens.
Through various interventions, including partnerships with the Renewed Hope Initiative, elderly Deltans have received financial assistance, food items, and welfare packages designed to improve their quality of life.
CHILD WELFARE PROGRAMMES
The Foundation’s annual Christmas celebrations have become a cherished event for children across Delta State.
Children from the twenty-five local government areas gather to celebrate the season and receive gifts, educational materials, food items, and other support.
The Foundation also promotes access to education and advocates for the rights and welfare of children.
ADVOCACY AND SOCIAL CAMPAIGNS
Over the past three years, the Foundation has intensified advocacy campaigns against:
Gender-based violence
Drug abuse
Child abuse
Social exclusion
Discrimination against persons with disabilities
It has also commemorated major global advocacy days aimed at promoting breastfeeding, female hygiene, autism awareness, women’s rights, and child protection.
MOTHERS ARISE INITIATIVE
Through the Mothers Arise prayer and empowerment programme, Deaconess Oborevwori has continued to inspire women spiritually and socially.
The initiative promotes family values, peaceful homes, responsible parenting, and community development through prayer and mentorship.
COMMUNITY OUTREACHES
The Governor’s wife has consistently marked personal milestones by reaching out to vulnerable groups.
Her birthday celebrations are often spent in orphanages, correctional centres, elderly homes, and special care facilities, where she donates food items, medications, household essentials, and financial support.
