In a high-stakes operation that reads like a Hollywood thriller, Benue State Police have rounded up 10 suspects behind the brutal murder of Miyetti Allah Chairman Ardo Risku Mohammed and his associate Yakubu Isa.
The dramatic arrests unfolded under cover of darkness on June 27, 2026, when police tactical teams stormed Otukpo Local Government Area in what officials are calling a “precision strike” fueled by intelligence that left the killers with nowhere to run.
The Captured
The dragnet scooped up a diverse cast of suspects ranging from teenagers to middle-aged men:
· Titus Thyodenda, 25
· Utibe Sam, 20
· Owoicho Ameh, 18
· Sunday Useni, 21
· Sunday Ogbanje, 46
· Daniel Raphael, 23
· Adokole John, 24
· Samuel Ogazi, 32
· Agbo Daniel, 25
· Onazi James, 30
“Justice Will Be Swift”
Police Public Relations Officer DSP Udeme Edet confirmed the breakthrough, describing it as “significant progress” in the high-profile case.
Commissioner of Police CP Cletus Nwadiogbu, beaming with pride, hailed his officers for their “swift response” and vowed: “The Command remains committed to ensuring that all those found culpable are brought to justice in accordance with the law.”
But the CP made it clear the hunt isn’t over – more arrests are coming.
The Bloody Ambush
The slain MACBAN chairman and his companion met their tragic end on Friday when gunmen ambushed them at Okudu community in Otukpo LGA. In a chilling twist, the attack came as they were returning from a PEACE MEETING called by the Divisional Police Officer in Idekpa, Ohimini LGA.
Community on Edge
As the investigation intensifies, CP Nwadiogbu appealed to residents to remain calm and become the eyes and ears of the police.
“Support security agencies with credible information,” he pleaded, while reaffirming the command’s iron resolve to protect lives and property across the state.
The question on everyone’s lips: Who else is on the police hit list?
