A political gathering organised in support of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign in Zamfara State took an unexpected turn on Wednesday when members of the crowd were heard chanting the name of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

The incident occurred during a solidarity walk in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, organised by the A.A. Yari Political Organisation in collaboration with the Shehu Movement Organisation and the Yari 774 Initiative for Asiwaju 2027. The event was held to appreciate Tinubu following his appointment of former Zamfara governor Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar as Director-General of the Tinubu Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections.

A video from the event captured the crowd chanting “Sai Atiku” rather than expressing support for Tinubu. The report did not provide an explanation for the chant or establish whether it represented the position of the organisers.
According to the organisers, Yari’s appointment would help propel the party towards the “promised land”. Zamfara APC Chairman, Alhaji Kabiru Moyi Birnin Magaji, also said Tinubu would receive massive votes from the people of the state in the 2027 election.

The development comes as political activities surrounding Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election continue to gather momentum, with political parties and their supporters increasingly mobilising across the country.
